Fat Transfer (Lipofilling)
Abroad, in Lithuania, the fat transfer procedure or lipofilling is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure that refines the contours of the body, reduces fat from undesirable areas such as (arms, abdomen, thighs, etc.) and injects into areas that lack definition (e.g. breasts, face, buttocks). This procedure increases
This procedure consists of several steps;
1- First, fat cells must be harvested from the fat tissue of the donor body part.
2- Incisions are made and the fat is removed through a thin cannula.
3- The fat is then prepared using special equipment to purify the fat and prepare it for injection.
4- Once the fat has been prepared, it is strategically injected into the desired area.
5- The fat is injected through small incisions in the skin, which are then sutured to allow for recovery.

Where can the fat be transferred?
Generally, fat is transferred to the buttocks, breasts, legs and face. Other areas that can be treated are the hips, front and back of the arms. In some cases, even men's breasts can be enlarged to make them look firmer. Lipectomy can also be used to change intimate parts of the body: for men, to increase the width of the penis and for women, to make the labia fuller. Also fat grafting has been shown to be an effective treatment for scars left behind after injuries or other operations. Superficial scars can be filled in and effectively reduced, leaving the skin smooth and firm. Fat transfer injections can even restore the youthful appearance of the hands by simply injecting them into the upper half of the hands.
What kind of results can I expect?
The biggest advantage of fat grafting is that it is a natural way to improve your appearance. The grafting uses the body's own fat cells, which means that the overall rejection rate is much lower than with synthetic fillers. Although the results may vary from case to case, under optimal conditions fat grafting can be an excellent and long-lasting improvement if injected properly;
During the first six months, the body will naturally reabsorb some of the injected fat, but as much as 50% of the fat cells will remain and continue to develop into new tissue.
Patients are recommended to repeat the procedure several times for long-lasting results. Experienced plastic surgeons will know how best to reposition the fat cells to make them as viable as possible.
Who can undergo fat grafting?
A patient undergoing fat grafting should have sufficient body fat that can be harvested.
A good physical and mental health is a prerequisite for the procedure and for recovery afterwards.
The patient should ideally be a non-smoker or be prepared to stop smoking for at least 6 weeks before and after the operation.
The patient with certain medical conditions, such as cardiovascular or autoimmune diseases, should be assessed and offered individual advice.
How to prepare for Fat transfer surgery?
A review of your medical history and health status will be performed prior to the consultation, noting any recent cosmetic procedures, medications, allergies, pre-existing illnesses, or other risk factors, and you will be asked to share and upload some photographs before the first consultation, as they are essential for the evaluation and planning of the fat grafting. During your consultation with the plastic surgeon, you will be asked to share your goals and expectations regarding fat grafting.
Laboratory tests, including blood tests, urinalysis, ECG (electrocardiogram), etc., may be performed to determine if you are suitable for fat transfer. Please note that smoking and alcohol are not allowed for 6 weeks before and after the operation, as nicotine restricts blood circulation.
Several medicines and herbs can increase the risk of bleeding, including aspirin, Ibuprofen, CoQ10, glucosamine, vitamin E, fish oil, green tea, sage seeds, protozoa oil, and garlic.
